Sanskrit University Invites Applications for Full-Time Ph. D. Programmes; Last Date October 21

Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady, has invited online applications for admission to its full-time Ph. D. programmes in 16 disciplines for the academic year 2026. The last date for submitting applications is October 21. The application fee is ₹160.

Details of the Programmes

• The programmes and the number of seats available are Sanskrit Literature (3), Sanskrit Vedanta (13), Sanskrit Vyakarana (4), Sanskrit Nyaya (18), Sanskrit General (5), Hindi (7), English (2), Malayalam (4), History (, Music (4), Vedic Studies (1), Social Work (2), Sociology (2), Translation Studies (3), Physical Education (1) and Urdu (3).

Candidates who have secured a B+ grade in a postgraduate degree or an equivalent qualification in the concerned or a related subject from a recognised university are eligible to apply. A five per cent relaxation in marks will be granted to candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, Persons with Disabilities, EWS and GNCP categories, as per the applicable rules. Candidates who have completed an M.Phil. degree in the prescribed manner from a recognised institution and those who meet the applicable UGC eligibility criteria may also apply.

• Candidates who qualified UGC-NET after October 2025 are exempted from the common entrance examination.
• Admission will be based on the common entrance examination conducted by the respective departments or the normalised UGC-NET score, followed by an interview, as applicable.
• The entrance examinations will be conducted in the respective departments.

Hall tickets will be available for download from the University website from October 23. Candidates shortlisted for interviews must email their research proposals to the respective Heads of Departments on or before November 12.

Reservation norms will be followed as per the applicable rules. A limited number of fellowships will also be available in the departments for eligible candidates, subject to the University’s decisions and applicable conditions. The final list of candidates selected for admission will be published on the University website.
